PrintChef
can take the output from any Windows application and apply fantastic
effects to it to change the printed output into the output that you
want. re:Format is a program that bridges the gap between the
non-Windows world and the PrintChef Windows world.
When a non-Windows operating system like ASA400,
IBM, Vax, etc. is used to print, then you can take advantage of the
capabilities of PrintChef by using re:Format. The process is a
simple one that requires you print from your non-Windows program to
a file.
With the file created, re:Format reads the file
and then uses a template to interpret the file's contents into
fields of text. With the data gathered, re:Format sends the data via
PrintChef Gateways to a print recipe that uses the data to create
the printed output according to the recipe's rules.
This process can be accomplished manually, or so
automatically, that it will appear as if you are printing directly
to the designated printer. re:Format provides the last piece of the
puzzle to give every user access to PrintChef capabilities.
