simple "print recipes" that add a watermark, to
complex "plug-ins" that can extract data from any
application's print, activate Stamps.com, and then merge the
application and Stamps.com output into one coordinated
printed, to controlling the print queue and page ordering.

find that this ease-of-use is extended to your print recipes
and plug-ins as they fit seamlessly into your solution.

Legacy
to Legend. PrintChef's seed is the page printed from your
application. It can shift, skew, rotate, flip, scale,
colorize, and clip it. And, it can extract data from that page
to create and rearrange new output (like in HP's
print-to-mail). And as such, PrintChef can work with any
legacy (older) program as easily as it works with any new
program. This is because it does not care where the
information (the page) was generated. This legendary solution
space has been in operation since 1992 on the Mac and is now
available on Windows.
Your Brand and Message. MindGate can brand print
recipes, build plug-ins that secure your recipes, and display
your company logo, slogan, and advertising with each print
from your customer. This puts your message and company in
their face every time they print... every time!
Affordable. PrintChef for Windows was designed around
an open architecture, so that it would be easy to use
rules-based print recipes to control prints, or plug-ins to do
incredible things with the prints. And since each component or
recipe is small when compared to the power it wields over
PrintChef, they are a cost effective solution that you can
pick and choose from to suit your printing needs.

Recipe
Design. By supplying art, page ordering, size, and other
specifications, MindGate can design a specific
"master" recipe solution to solve your printing
problem .
A Plug-in Library. This one-time charged program is a
standard Windows DLL that extends the PrintChef solution. It
is dropped into the PrintChef "Plug-ins" folder and
used by PrintChef to determine if certain print recipes are
allowed to print.
For example, if a Company's plug-in was developed and assigned
the "XXXX" identifier as its mark, then any print
recipe containing an "XXXX" virtual printing layer
would require the Company's plug-in before printing. A virtual
printing layer guarantees compatibility because PrintChef does
not care what it is that the plug-in prints, it only knows to
ask the plug-in to print its own layer.
This technique allows your specialized solution to mix with
PrintChef's standard solutions, recipes, and other plug-in
releases to create rich-featured print recipes based on your
plug-in and ready for your specific market.
Without the Company's plug-in present, the intended plug-in
operation cannot be performed. This approach effectively shuts
down any user that has not purchased and registered the
Company's plug-in. Since each plug-in is registered on an
installed PrintChef basis, it prevents illegal copying of the
plug-in and improves your profits.
This level of software protection is typically found in
software costing thousands of dollars, and yet it offers a
simple no-holds barred approach to protecting your Company's'
investment and the propriety of your recipe designs.

Distribution.
A plug-in is completely owned by your Company after
development. The source code is owned and maintained by
MindGate for you, but distribution is subject only to your
rules.
Level 1- Security. Just as the plug-in would protect a
Company's installation, it would also protect the recipes from
illegal use, and from being edited by any unauthorized
persons.
This prevents your Company's competitors from simply using the
PrintChef RecipeMaker to copy your recipe into a different
file and then making minor changes for re-distribution.
Level 2- Branding. As part of the extended plug-in,
PrintChef can offer recipe branding, so that (a) your
Company's logo appears in the PrintChef Print Control dialog;
(b) a 7-line (about 15 characters per line) slogan area on the
same PrintChef Print Control dialog; and (c) the title of the
PrintChef Control Dialog will read "PrintChef for 'Your
Company or Product' ".
Level 3- Advanced Tab. MindGate can offer an advanced
tab for direct access to your company's internet site. This is
the lowest cost version of the tab and entails a simple
background image with web-like buttons.
Level 4- Enhanced Tab. This adds some functionality to
your advanced tab allowing you to supply the software and
operation of the tab's subdialog.
Level 5- Functionality. The version of the plug-in is
based on software developed by MindGate to create effects,
process data, control the print queue, integrate pages in any
way, and more. This option requires typically 3-6 months
development time, upwards of $50K and a good deal of
company-to-company design-time and communications.
